Welcome to my first website!

Welcome to my very first website! My name is Jonathan O'Neal and I am 32 years old. I have lots of hobbies, but my favorite is collecting records and playing music. Right now I've got 162 vinyl records in my collection and hope someday I can get thousands. My favorite record in my collection is Long Division by Low, it sounds absolutely beautiful on vinyl. I listen to all types of music, but mostly listen to slowcore/post-punk bands.

Besides music, I'm also an avid gamer and most of my free time I usually spend gaming nowadays. I have a Switch 2, PS5, and a Nintendo 3DS XL, and play lots of games on each system equally. My favorite game of all time is always different but right now, it's a tie between Dragon Quest XI and Red Dead Redemption 2. The very first game I ever played was Pokemon Gold on the Gameboy Color, which probably explains why I love JRPGs so much now. I love series like Dragon Quest, Fire Emblem, Persona, Xenoblade, Final Fantasy, and Pokemon (although the last Pokemon game I really enjoyed was Pokemon Sun and Moon). I've also recently gotten into Souls-like games, and made it my goal to beat every FromSoftware game. Right now, I am only one game away from achieving that goal, and that game is Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. The game I am playing right now is Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies on my 3DS. So far I'm having a pretty good time with it. It might not be anywhere near as amazing as Dragon Quest XI, in my opinion, but it's still a fun game nonetheless. I'm hoping I can beat it soon, though, so I can start the new Fire Emblem game that just came out!

The purpose of this website is to serve as my personal portfolio where I can showcase the projects and assignments I've completed throughout my Web Stack Development course at DMACC. This is the first website I've ever built from scratch, and I plan to continue updating it as I learn more about web development. It gives me a place to practice the different skills we've been learning in class, including HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, and eventually more JavaScript. It also allows me to look back at my previous work and see how much I've improved since the beginning of the semester.

One of the things I enjoy about web development is being able to customize a website and make it my own. Rather than just creating a basic website for assignments, I've tried to incorporate some of my personal interests into it, especially my love for music, collecting vinyl records, and playing video games. I think this makes the process of learning web development a lot more enjoyable because I'm creating something that actually represents me. I've also enjoyed experimenting with different colors, layouts, navigation menus, tables, and other design elements to see how they affect the overall appearance of my website.

As the semester progresses, I plan to continue improving this portfolio by adding new assignments, updating existing pages, and applying the new techniques we learn in class. My final project will also give me an opportunity to put many of these skills together by creating a website dedicated to showcasing my personal record collection. I'm hoping that by the end of the course, I'll have a much better understanding of how websites are designed, organized, and maintained.

Overall, I want this website to demonstrate the progress I've made throughout the semester while also giving me something I can continue building on in the future. I know there's still a lot for me to learn, but I'm excited to see how much more I can improve my web development skills as I gain more experience.
